Teacher toolkit 6/365

This morning I’m teaching for the first time this year. My waistcoat is my toolkit. Here it is including:
Micro SD 8gb memory card.
USB security key required to log on to school network.
Red & black biros.
Highlighter pen.
IWB pen.
Lens cloth (iPhone lives in this pocket too, but I’m taking the photo with it).
Laser pointer with keys for tech cupboards.
Notebook for tasks on the hoof (iPhone too slow).
My security badge to be worn at all times on site.

I unashamedly love my waistcoat. Everything always at my fingertips.

Google making trouble 5/365 tag: edtech3652010

One of my old pupils came in to see me today brandishing this phone and a big smile. With Googles Nexus One being spectacularly undisclosed today, I am wondering if it will be better than the iPhone? The iPhone is a lovely device to use but has serious flaws that inconvenience my working life. Speed to access data for example. I, like a child, want it there and then when busy with many things. Multi-tasking is rubbish. Too rubbish to tolerate at times. Balance of hardware and functionality. I don’t want to have to jailbreak my phone but I have to to get the most out of it.

The picture is the HTC G2. The Hero is better according to the owner of this one. Nine screens that can display data. Now that is multi- tasking I can work with, or, that will work for me.

Best present – mac kb for my pc 4/365

My brothers generously bought me this keyboard for Christmas. I’m not a mac man but these keyboards are so light and encourage the user to be light in the key press – good for my finger joints. It joyfully plugged and played without issue and is completely compatible including apple key becoming windows key. I’ve left the @ key next to the return key (as the install set it) because I use so many PCs it is habit to find it there. All good!

Magic plug 3/365

Went into bathroom to see the plug had been mysteriously sucked to the side of the bath. One of my children must have discovered a way of creating the vacuum. It was a magic moment for me. Sad but true.
